Lovable Cloud vs DYPAI backend: what is actually different?
Lovable Cloud is powered by Supabase; DYPAI runs its own Postgres-based backend platform. That is a real architectural difference, but it does not make Lovable Cloud "just a database". Both can support a working app with users, files and server-side logic. The useful question is how you want to build, secure and operate that logic after the first prompt.
Supabase says every Lovable Cloud project runs on its infrastructure. Lovable's Cloud documentation lists database, authentication, storage, realtime, edge functions and scheduled jobs, alongside app hosting. Lovable manages the Supabase-backed project for you, so it is a strong option if you want to stay inside its browser-based builder.
What "Supabase under the hood" means
Lovable Cloud and a Supabase project you open yourself are different ownership arrangements. With Lovable Cloud, Lovable manages the Supabase instance; with a connected Supabase project, you manage it in your own Supabase account. Supabase's explanation says the Lovable-managed instance does not appear in your Supabase dashboard and does not give you direct database URLs or service-role keys. That matters if direct infrastructure access is part of your workflow.
It does not mean the backend is incomplete. Lovable can generate a functional database-backed product, and its Cloud includes edge functions and jobs. Calling it merely a Supabase wrapper would miss the app builder, hosting and management experience Lovable adds.
